In this episode of the “badge engineering: GM”, the Chevrolet Trax get the best of his cast mate Buick Encore. Following the example of the Encore, the Trax is Chevrolet entry into a new kind of diminutives of SUVs, one occupied by the Honda HR-V, Jeep Renegade, Mazda CX-3 and Nissan Juke.
The Trax is more interesting than his twin brother Buick for two reasons First, the Trax, with its extended fenders, is not seen as one potato loaded with chrome. Secondly, Chevy charges about $4000 less than Buick.
The Trax is small on the outside – is less than one inch more an old air-cooled Porsche 911, but very spacious inside. A six-foot passenger can fit comfortably behind a driver of 1.80. Large doors easily go in and out and still a solid structure of Encore and behavior.
In fact, the Trax showed to be a little more quiet 70 mph than the last Encore review. Chevy interior appointments and materials aren’t significantly more expensive looking like Buick, but the design of the cabin is clean and modern. A low point is touch screen audio system. High of the Chevy Sonic, the screen is annoying slow to respond.
Also would like a little more speed of the powertrain. As in the Encore, the Trax 1.4 litres Gets a turbo four with 138 horsepower and 148 pound feet of torque is channeled through a six-speed automatic. Acceleration is warm, turning completely cold with passengers and freight on board.
Equipped with four-wheel drive, our Trax LTZ-spec has reached 60 miles per hour in 9.4 seconds. No way around: the Trax is slow. Get used to the foot pedal. A lot. We did and he traveled to 23 miles per gallon regular. It is Figure 24-mpg city cited by the EPA and away from the number 31 mpg on the highway. At least the little four take their licks without much protest.

And although it may not be fast, the Trax 3296-pound has a tossability of small cars that we find attractive. It is never clumsy on the road, and rapid handling promote a skilled and lively feel. It is the lack of lateral grip and body is well controlled and secure. We realize of dipping the nose enough to disturb the stability of the Trax in braking. A strong leg is required to activate the ABS, but hit the brakes with the authority and the reward is a degree of 166 feet cerca-deportes – cars-70 mph.
The Chevy Trax is a machine without fuss. Small and exquisite, is a nice entry into joint baby thriving ute. Our only advice to consumers is to avoid the greater LTZ trim level.
Our LTZ 4WD came with a price of $27405, but you could save $2585 opting for the LT version of middle level and give the driver power seat, fog lights, stereo Bose and 18-inch wheels. Now, if this $2585 bought an extra 50 horsepower, happily pay, because there’s nothing wrong here that I can not fix an additional 50 horsepower.
