Audi Q3 and enough lineup of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, are harmless launched in the summer of 2011 in life. At about the same time the fantastic turbocharged 2.5-liter 5-cylinder from the TT-RS and RS3 in the innocent-looking Q3 crossover installed people in Ingolstadt, and then decided to let the journalists who take large stations in the prototype.
We were one of them, and if we slightly verstimmten which, 310-hp drove mash-up, we liked the result. Of course it was hinted at a big surprise, the future animals, a RS-Q3 as we had discovered a few months earlier, that Audi had applied a series of model designations, including the brand.
The German automaker then revealed the 314 PS Q3 Vail concept, followed by the mechanically identical Jinlong Yufeng concept, and then – and Lo and behold – an R8. The RS concept was equipped with the same just five, except that the output until had been pushed to 360 HP, more than that would provide Audi Finally, but was the appearance there. The concept of large, oblique air intakes regarded the RS6 avant and RS7 and repetitions of the company made it clear that the final production model very would look the show car.
And now comes the announcement of the production-spec RS Q3, which debuts in Geneva. The crossover has torque less muscular variation of growling 310 HP and five, 310 lb-ft. The results of such power in the course of impressive: Audi claims the Sprint from 0 to 62 mph takes 5.5 seconds.
Top speed is 155 mph. a controlled, which is significantly better than the next Almighty model in the line of Q3, the 211 HP, 2.0-liter four that Audi says needs 4.3 seconds for the standard Sprint and tops out at 143. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly is the only available transmission DQ500 a dual-clutch 7-speed automatic – Audi unit.
The engineers at Audi Quattro Division went to lengths, you update the Q3 chassis to handle the extra power of the RS Variant. The new Q3 RS is equipped with a sport suspension, almost an inch lower than in improving the standard of Q3 and the battery weight distribution shifted is housed under the cargo floor. 19-inch wheels are standard and 20-Inchers are the last 275/30 Pirelli wear P zero rubber.
Within the RS-Q3, a flat-bottom steering wheel and sport diamond insert seats with a pattern available a sporty design, highlighted by black, aluminium or carbon fibre decor and a gray gauge cluster with a tachometer, which displays 186 mph.
The exterior is compared to the R8, taken over largely unchanged, although the twin exhaust outlets for a singular oval exit deleted. But the crossover looks always still mighty impressive, especially with the optional mat aluminium or black styling packages applied to the intake pipe trim trim and roof spoiler, diffuser fins.
Audi press release refers to the fact that the RS-Q3 the fastest vehicle in its segment. That’s right, but just barely: BMW claims its only America X 1 xDrive35i, with its 300 Horsepower, Turbo straight-six, 5.6 seconds to 62 mph and only one-tenth longer than the Q3 RS and the strongest X 1 tops out 149 mph – six down on the Audi.
Despite the split hairs we want for €44,225 before tax in Germany on the Audi RS Q3 (approximately $59000 sold at current exchange rates). The disgruntled RS engine can future potential for improvement, but resist that temptation can Audi? We hope that the answer was “No”.
