Mattresses doors are a neat trick for Cactus Citroen party. Guarantee stands out in traffic and, as I know from crashing a shopping cart in a serious test with a silly touch, giving the small square SUV Citroen plenty of protection against accidents.
But there is more to the cactus airbumps – as it is called Citroen – on the flanks. It is also a soft, spacious and well designed small family car with the largest in recent memory driving glove.
You can also leave it in a giant parking lot filled with the latest SUV Korean and Japanese and knows that will have absolutely no problem finding it.
Citroen remains a challenging brand here and has already committed to the powertrain.
The turbo three-cylinder 1.2-liter engine produces 82kW and is very useful. It is easy to keep it moving strongly with manual gearbox five-speed – but again, why not a six-speed manual?
It is a bit faster than the rival, compatriot Renault Captur and fuel economy is good. But it is essential to avoid stirring well, especially if you have family on board.
When loaded, it does a good job as a family vehicle in twos, with plenty of cabin space and reasonable room in the home.
The cactus looks bigger than it is, which confirm the parking lot next to a Captur, but I know the boot is definitely greater than the CX-3 and comfort is better than the HR-V. In fact, comfort is one of its strongest points.
The seats are well formed and well-padded, the view is good in all directions and the ride is fantastic. Citroën have always had a great reputation for a comfortable ride that still provides a good grip in the corners and Cactus is no exception.
Cactus is only a four star hotel in Australia, lack of safety of a fifth star, as it has the latest driver aids. Citroen says it is not a structural deficiency and the car goes well in crash tests.
Still, this great glove is extremely useful, a possible design feature thanks to the air bag tear down the roof, instead of opening the panel. Other projects include Citroen offers large and easy to use multimedia screen and a large digital speedometer.
The air conditioning works well, there is a camera and reversing radar Car and Cactus is light to handle and easy to park.
Citroen also makes a big deal about options to customize the Cactus combination of different body colors and ceiling with the different options of air collisions. It is easy to make the car stand out, that’s right.
The cactus has its quirks and flaws, but the idea is good. It is a baby SUV is more than just a tiddler with an elegant shape. It works well and is a good car.
But for now, there are many buts. If the price was better, or had a real one, or some of the deficiencies were not so cumbersome, it would be a very good car.
For now, it is a little out of the goal loses the tick. If the murmurs of France is right on future improvements, a new test can produce a better result.
